Change Difficulty Setting
While talking to Alaric, type: easy, normal or difficult.

Hint: Remove The Mage Lock
Go to Kosha, go to the Judge then sleep there until the game clock reads noon. Wait at that spot for one more game hour and then enter his room and inspect the desk for a scroll. Double clicking the magic book and then the desk scroll will add a new spell to your tome.
