Hint:
Create a path down the middle and make it go back on itself near the start. This was you can cover both the aircraft and when it becomes more difficult. There is not much you can do with regards to the aircraft other than make sure the middle section is covered (don't forget to use the goo).

When it becomes more difficult and it looks like they will break through, pause the game, sell a tower right at the start, and buy a tower than blocks the main route. This will send them all the back through your towers.
Note. You must make sure you always have a few dollars to be able to do this.
